Should Arsenal sign this ace over Vidal?

Having wrapped up a deal for Petr Cech, Arsenal are said to have turned their attention to Juventus and Chile star Arturo Vidal. Various reports have suggested that the club have reached an agreement with both Juventus and the player for the Chilean to join Arsenal after the conclusion of the Copa America.

Wenger is known to be in the market for another centre midfielder, preferably a defensive minded ball winner, leaving many to question where Vidal will fit into the XI. He is more of a box to box engine and with the likes of Wilshere and Ramsey in that role, many feel Wenger would be better served pursuing an out and out ball winner.

In comes William Carvalho to the fray, with the young Portuguese ace another long term target for Arsenal. He fits the bill as tough tackling ball winner in the middle of the park, and many feel he would better serve the club. Should Arsenal sign Carvalho instead of Vidal?

There is a strong case. The argument against Vidal is valid in the sense that Arsenal possess plenty of box to box players (if you throw in Cazorla and Chamberlain aside from Ramsey and Wilshere). Vidal would stifle the progress of young English talent and would be an expensive luxury.

Carvalho on the other hand would compete with only Francis Coquelin who is around the same age (in fact Coquelin is a year older) and would create a more natural competition for places. While his inclusion in the XI could be seen as unfair to Coquelin, there would be room for the pair of them in some instances while Vidal would surely command the lion share of minutes at the expense of Wilshere or Chamberlain or Ramsey.

It boils down to Wenger and what poison he picks. What do you think gooners? Should Arsenal sign Vidal or Carvalho?
