Arsenal kept their hopes of a top-four finish in the Premier League and subsequent Champions League qualification alive with a 2-0 victory over Manchester United yesterday, closing the gap on Manchester City and Liverpool as a result.

The victory means Arsenal have the chance of moving to just one point behind Liverpool before Jurgen Klopp’s side travel to West Ham next weekend, as the Gunners tackle Southampton in midweek before travelling to face Stoke on Saturday.

Arsenal will now be hoping to string together a strong run of form to end the Premier League campaign, and take into the FA Cup final against Chelsea, and the victory against Manchester United has certainly lifted spirits in North London.

Arsene Wenger’s first ever league victory over Jose Mourinho came via goals from Granit Xhaka and Danny Welbeck, with the latter heading home off the bar following a fantastic cross from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who once again excelled at wing-back.

Arsenal fans voted the former Southampton prodigy Man of the Match following the game and took to Twitter to heap praise on the England ace, who they’re desperate to see sign a new contract.
