Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has signed a new four-year deal with the club.

The marksman was once again linked with switch to Arsenal this summer, but has put pen to paper on a new deal at the Bernabeu.

Benzema was suggested to have fallen out of favour with the Real Madrid hierarchy. He started just 23 La Liga games for Zinedine Zidane’s side last term and made 29 appearances in total.

The Frenchman who fired 19 goals over all competitions for Los Blancos last season has failed to find the back of the net so far this term.

But that hasn’t stopped Real Madrid from wanting to tie him down to a new deal with a buy-out clause worth €1billion.

The France international, who is 29, joined Madrid from Lyon for €35 million in 2009 and has won 14 trophies at the Bernabeu.

The new deal has not phased Arsenal fans who still reckon their club will be linked with the hitman in the coming months…
