Reports in Turkey claim Arsene Wenger ‘is almost obsessed’ in signing the Oguzhan Ozyakup this summer.

His former prodigy left the Emirates in 2012 to pursue first-team football with Besiktas. It was recently revealed that talks have taken place between the north London based club and Ozyakup.

Arsenal are free to negotiate with Ozyakup without consulting Besiktas as the 25-year-old has under four months remaining on his contract.

The Turkey international has established himself as one of the Superliga’s top talents. The defensive midfielder has made 17 appearances this season and provided two assists.

However, it’s his defensive concentration which could be key to filling a much need role in Arsenal’s midfield.

Ozyakup won the FA Youth Cup in 2009 with the Gunners youth side and went onto make his his senior debut against Shrewsbury in the League Cup.

He failed to appear in the Premier League for Wenger’s side, but Turkish outlet Yeni Asir claim the player could be finally closing in on a league debut for Arsenal.
