Whether Arsenal fans like to admit it or not. The gap with their nearest rivals is now slight.

Though they continue to pose a threat, Sp*rs continue to fall short year after year with St Totteringham’s day becoming a North London tradition.

Arsenal fans should be mindful that 12 years ago, they were celebrating title wins rather than finishing above their nearest rivals. You can make your mind up as to whether that suggests how far The Gunners have fallen, how much Sp*rs have improved, or a bit of both.

One thing’s for sure, Tottenham have established a squad and capable manager to challenge at the top. With Arsene Wenger’s side on the wrong end of consecutive 2-1 results, Mauricio Pochetino’s side have closed the gap to just one point.

As unlikely as it sounds, a few of their players would be great for Arsenal. Here’s TWO who would be prefect for Arsene Wenger…

Victor Wanyama

The summer arrival from Southampton has enjoyed a bright start to life on the wrong side of North London. Wanyama has been influential in keeping it tight at the back with his powerful tackling and knack for intercepting the play.

The Kenyan is also competent going forward, a constant threat arriving late in the box for headed goals. An area Arsenal lack in when Giroud doesn’t play.

Toby Alderweireld

Alderweireld has developed into one of the best defenders in the league. The Belgian is impressive on the turn, in one on one situations and at reading the game. He also possesses playmaker-esque long ball vision, which has seen him notch up a number of assists to Dele Alli.

If the superlatives aren’t enough to convince you, the stats should. Sp*rs have conceded just 13 goals in their 18 league games so far with Alderweireld at the heart of the back four.
