Arsenal are facing a mini crisis at the back ahead of their trip to Watford on Saturday.

Shkodran Mustafi is set to spend four – six weeks on the sidelines after picking up a thigh injury during the international break. The Germany defender limped off early in their 5-1 win over Azerbijan.

Meanwhile Laurent Koscielny is a doubt. The Gunners stand-in skipper will have a late fitness test in the hopes that he’s shaken off his achilles injury. Sead Kolasinac could also miss the tie – the Bosnian has returned from international duty with a minor hip problem.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted he has a big decision to make for Saturday’s tie.

“I am thinking about sorting out the [defensive] problem, but overall I will completely decide what I do tomorrow,” Wenger said (via The Independent)

With the defence set to be makeshift, it now represents a far more trickier match for the Gunners.

Should all three miss the game, we’ve come up with a backline that would keep Watford at bay…

LWB- NACHO MONREAL

Arsenal’s September Player of the Month will be moved out to the flanks. Nacho will likely be more defensive minded as he keep the untried defence in check

LCB – CALUM CHAMBERS

Chambers will be buoyed after recently putting pen to paper on a new deal. The Englishman can celebrate his contract extension with a sturdy performance on Saturday.

CB – PER MERTESACKER

The BFG has been unfortunate to have featured in just three games so far this season. With Mustafi out for a number of weeks, this will be the start of a sustained spell in the heart of the defence.

RCB – ROB HOLDING

Holding made a shaky start to the season after such a successful end to 2016/17. The 21 year-old has a lot to learn, but all the signs are there that he can lead Arsenal’s next generation.

RWB – HECTOR BELLERIN

After a poor start at left-wing-back, Bellerin has returned to his customary position with flying colours. The Spaniard will be a key man to get in behind the Watford defence.
