Three players to follow Cech to Arsenal

Reports everywhere suggest Arsenal is close to completing a deal for Petr Cech, with a fee of £10.9 million agreed between the clubs. Chelsea legend Cech is seen as a massive coup for Arsenal, and a shock one as well having come from a direct rival.

Still, many will feel that Cech should be just the beginning of Arsenal’s summer transfer dealings. The club is still short two or three players if they are to mount a proper title challenge next season, and still need reinforcements higher up the pitch. A goalkeeper is just one fourth of the proverbial spine of the team and the general consensus is that Arsenal need at least two of the remaining three. Have a look at three ideal players to follow Cech to Arsenal and be sure to leave your comments.

William Carvalho

It is believed Arsenal are still on the market for a tall and strong defensive midfield enforcer despite the play of Francis Coquelin last season. Wenger is said to have specific requirements which include height, pace, strength, technical ability, and intelligence. Sporting’s William Carvalho fits this bill to a tee and is thought to be the most realistic target compared to Schneiderlin and Kondogbia (who has now gone to Inter). Carvalho is a tenacious ball winner and big bruising character, he would certainly add something to the side. He is quick across the ground, and covers much space to snuff out danger. He also has a decent passing range and good eye for a pass, and loves to distribute from deep. He could be the missing link in midfield.

Aymen Abdennour

Aggressive, fearless, robust. I absolutely rate this lad and think he would be a brilliant partner to Koscielny. This one is a bit unlikely seeing as how Gabriel has just recently joined the club, but it seems he may need a bit more time acclimatize to England and English and Abdennour could be the perfect man to replace Mertesacker for the time being. Such strength and pace he has, tracking down attackers superbly and never afraid to put a foot in. He showed against our lads what a bruiser he can be, barreling over players to win the ball, and he is never afraid of contact. He is just 25 and for me can develop into a World Class centre half.

Edinson Cavani

Cavani is the big fish. If he alone was to follow Petr Cech in joining Arsenal, I suspect most gooner’s wouldn’t mind too much at all. Top quality Cavani is, absolutely clinical in front of goal and in this team he would easily bag 20-25 goals a season. He has everything; pace, skill, strength, mobility, intelligent movement, and impressive aerial ability. He would get his preferred centre forward role and would be tasked with tucking the ball away which should be no problem at all. The likes of Ozil and Sanchez and Cazorla will create all sorts of chances that would leave Cavani licking his chops. His signing would instantly take Arsenal to the next level.
