Top 5 January targets that Arsenal should AVOID

It’s not too early to start thinking about silly season, as January will be here before you know it. While it is usually a quite window, I do expect (or at least hope for) some activity from Arsenal, particularly in the defensive department.

In fact, Arsenal’s business should be done exclusively in the defensive department. Transfer rumours can be, well, silly (hence the name) and reports of even more attacking midfielders and wingers joining the club are hard to understand. Some of the mooted targets are simply not Arsenal material, let alone whether or not the club needs a player in that position.

I’m hoping (as I’m sure we all are) that the Khedira reports are true, as that would represent a fantastic bit of business and certainly address a long standing need. I’m hoping for the complete opposite regarding other reports, as some targets are simply mind boggling. Click on Yohan Cabaye to see who else Arsenal should steer clear of in January.

Pedro

Rumours have linked Arsenal to the 27 year old and although a quality player, I have a hard time figuring out where he would fit in our squad.

With Alexis already joining, and the likes of Walcott, Chamberlain, Cazorla, etc.., I see any move  Pedro as a massive waste of money.

 Fabian Delph

Another quality player, but another case of over saturation. We have no need for Delph despite how good of a player he is and he wouldn’t add anything to the team that Arsenal don’t already possess.

Tyrone Mings

While Mings would fit the bill as a versatile defender, I simply don’t think he is Arsenal material.

I’m not sold on the hype about him just yet and besides we are well stocked at the fullback positions. We need an established centre half or two to challenge and support Mertesacker and Koscielny.

With Gibbs, Monreal, Chambers and Bellerin already in the squad, and Debuchy and Jenkinson returning from injury and loan, that position would quickly become overstocked if we were to sign Mings.

Iker Casillas

While I was once an endorser of this move, I must say I am no longer. He has been dreadful lately and his wage demands would be stupendously high. We already have two quality goalkeepers.

Yohan Cabaye

Cabaye is struggling to get into the PSG side at the moment and rumours are linking Arsenal with a bid to bring the player back to England.

Another odd one, as again he would struggle to get into our side as well. Attacking midfield is the last of our concerns, as Wenger is already having a hard time keeping everyone happy. At the moment and he would add to our wage bill unnecessarily.
