According to reports, Tottenham and Arsenal are set to lock horns for the signing of Riyad Mahrez in January.

The Mirror claims that the pair will be willing to bid close to £30m for the 26-year-old winger after an unconvincing start to the season with Leicester.

Mahrez did try to fashion a move away from the Premier League club in the summer and there were reports that Barcelona and Roma were interested in the Algeiran. However, neither deal materialised and that has left the door open for Spurs and the Gunners to snap him up.

The North Londoners are set to test Leicester’s resolve in the winter window. Spurs currently have the upper hand in the league, but it’s not for certain which club will be able to offer Mahrez Champions League football next season.

With the 26 year-old available for £30m, he could be the ideal replacement for Alexis Sanchez.
