Jean-Michael Seri could be Unai Emery’s first signing at the Emirates.
The Nice midfielder was a reported target last summer, but no official bid was made.
Now according to ESPN, the Gunners are closing in on a deal for the defensive midfielder. Contracts with representatives over a summer move have been made for the 26-year-old who is valued by his club at around £40million.
The Ivorian who is admired by Emery, has made 30 starts for Nice in Ligue 1 this term.
Despite Arsenal’s keen interest, it is suggested the Ivory Coast international is also being chased by Premier League rivals Chelsea. Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund are also keeping tabs on his situation.
Seri could be the perfect dynamic midfielder presence if the Gunners can land him this summer.
It’s unclear whether any of their current midfielders will be departing the Emirates. Jack Wilshere looks set to sign a new deal, but Aaron Ramsey is yet to begin contract talks.
