According to Guillem Balague, Arsenal have made an approach for Nicolas Pepe.

The Lille winger has burst onto the scene as one of Europe’s hottest talents.

Pepe has netted eight times and provided five assists already this season and is now being tipped for a January switch to a top team.

The links with Arsenal were widespread before Danny Welbeck’s ankle break, but it is now vital that Unai Emery finds a replacement for the Englishman.

And with a return to the Champions League their main target, Emery is keen for January reinforcements.

Sky Sports expert Balague has backed the 23-year-old to excel in England after revealing Arsenal have been in touch with Lille.

Balague says Arsenal have made an approach for Pepe

“He’s one of those players that have had a great start to the season,” he said in a video posted on his YouTube channel.

“He’s scored eight goals already, nine assists and he’s got a great ability with his left foot.

“He’s mostly left-footed, plays on the right-hand side but also on the left-hand side.

“It’s mostly from wide areas coming inside that makes him special and it’s what he does with the ball in small spaces that makes him special.

“That’s why Arsenal are looking into the possibility of signing him.

“Yes, they’ve approached Lille.
