Olivier Giroud stunned the footballing world in Arsenal’s win over Sam Allardyce’s Crystal Palace on New Year’s Day.

The France international, who was arguably only in the side due to injuries, opened the scoring at The Emirates with one of the most sensational Gunners goals for years.

With Sanchez’s cross falling behind him Giroud pulled off an exceptional ‘Scorpion kick’ to flick the ball in off the bar, having missed an absolute sitter just minutes into the game.

If you, somehow, haven’t seen the strike, sit back…

What makes it more remarkable in the footballing world is that it comes just days after Manchester United playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored with a similar effort in Mourinho’s side’s win over struggling Sunderland.

They were both spectacular goals, despite the Armenian’s being offside but it was given, so we’ll ignore that – for now.

The goal instantly kicked off a spat between the two fan bases arguing over who’s was better (silly question, we all know it was Giroud’s), and Arsenal fans had their fare say…
