Arsenal continued their fine Premier League form at the weekend with a 4-1 win over David Moyes’ struggling Sunderland side.

The win, which came courtesy of a quickfire Gunners treble in the second half, after Jermain Defoe cancelled out Alexis Sanchez’ opener from the spot in the first half.

The topflight tie was significant for a number of reasons. Firstly, having dominated the game but not found another goal after the Black Cats equalised, an Arsenal side of the past few seasons may have crumbled and not had the composure to breakthrough.

However, another from Sanchez – we’ll get to that – and a brace from Oliver Giroud showed the progression this side has made.

The double from Giroud is another key factor, two goals straight off the bench will be a huge confidence boost for the Frenchman, who will come in handy if he can stay in form, both in the league and in Europe.

Finally, that man, Alexis Sanchez bagged a brace and simultaneously reached the landmark of 50 goals for Arsenal, in just 106 games, and he received heaps of praise on Twitter from fans…
