Arsenal target Samuel Umtiti has rejected a move to the Emirates.
Arsenal have missed out on Champions League football for the third season on the trot and will once again be playing their European football on Thursday nights.
The blow will also have an affect on their transfer budget and the quality of players they can attract this summer.
25-year-old Umtiti was thought to be one of Emery’s number one targets as he looks to shore up his defence ahead of next season.
But in an interview with RTL France (via Football.London) Umtiti said:
“I have a contract, I feel happy in Barcelona. I had a complicated season, but I will still be at Barcelona next season.”
Umtiti made just 14 appearances for the La Liga Champions last season. However, the 2018 World Cup winner looks set to fight for his place at the Nou Camp.
The Gunners are suggested to have just £40m to spend on personnel this summer.
It may force Unai Emery to sacrifice one of his big stars in order to find funds for new players.
