Arsenal boss Unai Emery has put his finger on why he believes Arsenal’s record away from home is so poor.
The Gunners lost for the sixth time in the Premier League thanks to a hat-trick from Sergio Aguero. Arsenal have picked up only two points from their last six games on the road — and still have not won away since the November trip to Bournemouth
Asked if Arsenal now have to win at the Premier League’s bottom club, the Emery responded: “Yes”.
“We can have better balance [in performances] when we prepare by thinking it’s going to be very difficult,” Emery said. “I spoke with the players [and told them] we need to think this match is very important for us. Every player needs to be ready, be focused and be thinking we need to win this match.
“We must impose ourselves from the first minute and throughout the 90 minutes but first is the mentality. It’s to think this match will be very difficult. For us tactics are the second issue. The first is to think we need to win and after that it’s how we can win – preparing tactically and individually.”
Arsenal fans had enjoyed a 22-match unbeaten run from August till December from their side – including 11 consecutive wins – but the Gunners have since lost six out of 12.
