Arsenal’s forgotten striker Lucas Perez looks set to be given another crack at the Emirates with Unai Emery prepared to take a closer look at the Spaniard.

Perez endured a rather forgettable debut season in 2016/17. The hitman failed to nail down a starting position under Arsene Wenger and was eventually shipped out on loan last summer.

He scored a respectable 8 goals in 35 La Liga appearances for Deportivo la Coruna last term, but could not prevent the Spanish side from suffering relegation.

According to a report from football.london, it is likely to be a clean slate for the entire Arsenal squad and Lucas Perez’s agency have issued a statement in regards to the forward’s future at the Emirates Stadium.

“Lucas, on day 2, begins pre-season with Arsenal,” Protio Sport said.

“There is interest from some teams, but he is a player of Arsenal and his desire is to succeed there.”

Despite the sales of Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud in the January transfer window, Lucas still has fierce competition for a starting place next season with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette ready to lead the line.
