Unai Emery has praised the Arsenal fans for welcoming Granit Xhaka back into the team.
The Swiss midfielder had not appeared for the Gunners since his confrontation with his own fans last month.
Xhaka, making his return to the fold after being stripped of the captaincy, suffered a knock to his knee in a clash just before half-time.
He looked set to be substituted in considerable pain before getting through to the break and playing on.
Despite the 2-1 defeat to Frankfurt Unai Emery believes there were several positives to take from the game – including Xhaka’s return.
‘It’s very good news with Granit. We played well and the supporters helped him and I think it’s good news,’ Emery said.
The Spaniard added: ‘Xhaka wanted to continue playing.
‘His match today was good and he helped the team, Emery said (via Miror).
‘I am being positive but I’m also realistic and we lost against a good opponent.
‘We have improved from our last match and we are still first and have the opportunity to qualify, but we missed the opportunity tonight.’
Xhaka could maintain his starting place when Arsenal take on Norwich at Carrow Road on Sunday.
