Reports on Thursday afternoon claimed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has informed Barcelona he is ready to leave Arsenal and complete a move to the Nou Camp.

Arsenal’s new captain – Aubameyang ‘agrees’ move to Barca

Barca’s leading number nine – Luis Suarez – is out for the season after having surgery on his knee injury.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Aubameyang’s potential move to Barcelona depends on whether he agrees to sign a new contract with the Gunners, with his current deal set to run out in the summer of 2021.

The report adds that the 30-year-old has told the La Liga champions he is keen on a move to the Camp Nou, although Arsenal are said to be hopeful he will sign a new contract.

Since his arrival at the Emirates two years ago, the former Borussia Dortmund striker has scored 57 goals in 91 appearances for Arsenal.

Aubameyang reached 50 goals quicker than any other Arsenal player and his departure would be a huge loss for Mikel Arteta’s side.
