Arsenal are eying the signing of of American teenager Cole Bassett after handing the Colorado Rapids midfielder a week-long trial.

The MLS teenager is travelling from the USA to spend a week at London Colony working under the Arsenal coaches during the international break.

According to Football.London the player himself has said that he is an Arsenal fan and is hoping to impress in a bid to break into Unai Emery’s first-team plans.

Emery has followed Arsene Wenger’s principles of offering first-team football to the club’s academy products.

Joe Willock, Emile Smith-Rowe and Bukayo Saka are a number of rising stars in the Arsenal team.

Colorado Rapids are owned by the Kroenkes, who also own Arsenal – and that would help grease the wheels of the transfer if Bassett impresses during his trial.

Basset broke into the first-team in 2019 and made 20 appearances in his breakthrough season, scoring twice.
