Arsenal are set for a busy summer, or so the fans hope, and supporters have been handed a boost by comments from Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis, who spoke at a fans event yesterday and promised big signings will be made.

The Gunners seem prepared to spend big this summer and could part with a club-record fee to bring prime-targets to the club, with the likes of Alexandre Lacazette, Kylian Mbappe and Thomas Lemar being widely mentioned as the recruits Arsenal are chasing.

Arsene Wenger parted with a club-record £42.5m in 2013 to bring World Cup winner Mesut Ozil to the Emirates Stadium from Real Madrid but it seems likely that figure will be exceeded this summer, especially with Arsenal under pressure to spend following a fifth-placed finish in the Premier League last season.

That’s left Arsenal out of next season’s Champions League and they face a stern challenge to force their way back into the top four. Fortunately, the club’s hierarchy matches the fans ambition and plenty of money will be invested.
