Arsenal are set for a crucial season next year and preparations have taken a hit with reports that Santi Cazorla may miss the entire 2017/18 campaign, potentially meaning he’s already played his last game for the Gunners.

The Spaniard limped off during the 6-0 Champions League victory over Ludogorets in October, with it initially reported he’d be unavailable for a few weeks, but continued achilles issues and numerous surgeries mean the 32-year-old will remain out of action for the foreseeable future.

Arsenal struggled to fill the void left by the influential Spaniard last season and only found their rhythm towards the back-end of the campaign, where the midfield partnership of Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaka excelled following a switch to a three-man defence.

The Gunners may utilise that system again though, with the aforementioned pair continuing their roles, but the loss of Cazorla provides a huge hit on the team- and one of Arsenal’s midfielders will need to step-up and show they’re capable of replacing the Spaniard.

Ramsey may be the stand-out candidate, whilst Jack Wilshere could also make an impression after a loan spell with Bournemouth. As well as that pair, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain may push for the central midfield spot he craves and Mohamed Elneny is also an option.

In the latest video, which you can watch above, ArsenalFanTV discuss the loss of Cazorla and debate who could fill his spot in the first-team.
