Patrick Vieira is upset with Arsenal after a suggested ‘token gesture by the club to analyse his credentials as the Gunners’ next manager.

Vieira has been linked with a return to the Emirates following Arsene Wenger’s announcement that he is stepping down.

But according to Sky Sports The former Arsenal captain, who made 406 appearances for the Gunners during a nine-year spell in north London, was left disappointed after speaking with the club and feels the call was merely a token gesture to one of their former players.

Vieira is currently the head coach of MLS side New York City FC, but it is another former Gunner Mikel Arteta who has emerged as the favourite to take over.

The reports also claims Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has not been contacted about the role.

Gooners, which Arsenal legend would you most like to see succeed Wenger? Let us know in the comments…
