Arsenal will continue their Europa League journey with an unusual Wednesday kick off away to Vitoria Guimares.

The match has been brought forward from it’s typical Thursday night but Vitoria v Arsenal will kick off at the unusual time of 3.50pm on Wednesday.

Fellow Portuguese side Braga, whose Municipal Stadium is approximately 10 kilometres away from Vitoria’s Estádio D. Afonso Henriques, host Turkish giants Besiktas on Thursday and Uefa rules stipulate that two teams from the same region cannot play their home games on the same date.

The rules also state that Europa League matches cannot clash with Champions League matches which is the reason behind the early kick off.

Nicolas Pepe struck late to seal victory for Arsenal in the reverse fixture

The two teams played out an entertaining encounter at the Emirates Stadium two weeks ago, with the Gunners coming back from 2-1 down to win 3-2 with two late goals from Nicolas Pepe.

Unai Emery is expected to make several changes to his team for the competition.

Young talents Joe Willock and Bukayo Saka have enjoyed plenty of game time in the group stages so far.

Mesut Ozil has been left out as has Granit Xhaka who was stripped of the Arsenal captaincy on Tuesday.
