Arsenal are reportedly set to hand Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain a new contract as they look to secure his services for the long-term, with the England international’s current deal expiring next summer.

The former Southampton man has struggled with injury issues since signing for the club in 2011 but has enjoyed much better luck this season, where he has shown his importance and versatility to the Arsenal side.

Establishing himself as a winger during recent years at Arsenal, Oxlade-Chamberlain impressed in a central midfield role earlier this season when the Gunners midfield ranks were severely depleted and has now excelled at wing-back.

The 25-year-old has put in consecutive Man of the Match performances for Arsenal in a 2-1 Premier League victory over Middlesbrough and the same result against Manchester City in the FA Cup, with the Gunners shifting to a three-man defence.

Arsenal are now prepared to make Oxlade-Chamberlain amongst the highest earners at the Emirates Stadium, raising his wages to around the £100k-a-week mark, and the news has gone down swimmingly amongst fans on social media.
