Arsene Wenger says it’s ‘likely’ Alexis Sanchez will join Manchester United this month.

The Gunners star has been seeking an exit for some time, though it appeared Sanchez was poised for a move to Manchester City.

Jose Mourinho’s side have seemingly hijacked their rivals deal after offering a staggering £350,000-a-week in wages.

As reported by The Sun, hen asked about Sanchez, Wenger said: “Yes, it is likely to happen. Any minute things can break down.

“That’s how the transfer market is. These things are never guaranteed. It can happen, it can as well not happen.

“It is as that stage. If it does not happen, he will play on Saturday.”

Sanchez rejected a new contract from Arsenal which now has less than six months to run. If the club fail to sell him he will leave for free at the end of the season.

The boss also revealed that United forward Henrikh Mkhitaryan will be moving the opposite way in the deal.

Mkhitaryan is set to become an Arsenal player.

He added: “Yes that is my understanding. I like the player.”

“No, the wages will not be a problem.”

It’s unconfirmed yet whether it will be a straight swap. Mkhitaryan is looking to reignite his career after a difficult spell at Old Trafford.
