Arsene Wenger is keen to bolster his defensive options this summer and has listed Juventus defender Daniele Rugani as a top target.

According to the Star, the 23-year-old is frustrated with the lack of playing time under Max Allegri and is open to sealing a move away.

Rugani came up through the ranks of Empoli’s youth system before making a switch to Juventus in 2012 on loan. He’s made 12 appearances for the Old Lady this season following the departure of Leonardo Bonucci, but he is keen to play regularly.

The Italian could be the perfect solution to Arsenal’s defensive woes who have struggled to nail down a consistent starting backline this season. The Gunners have conceded 36 goals in just 27 Premier League games so far.

Further, with Wenger’s continued effort to play three at the back the centre-half could be a much-needed reinforcement.
