Wenger explains why Mkhitaryan stays behind after training

Mkhitaryan arrived in a straight swap for Alexis Sanchez in January

Arsenal’s new ace Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been staying back after training to work with Arsenal’s strikers.

The Armenian who arrived in a straight swap for Alexis Sanchez in January appears determined to lead the Gunners back to the top of the Premier League.

The former Manchester United midfielder enjoyed an impressive full debut as Arsenal thrashed Sam Allardyce’s Everton 5-1 at the Emirates on Saturday.

The match saw Mkhitaryan, who created three goals, rekindle his celebrated partnership with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The two were immense at Borussia Dortmund and seemingly haven’t lost a step after nearly two-years apart.

Rumours circulated that the 29-year-old was staying behind after Arsenal training to help out in the striker’s drills.

Mkhitaryan is putting the extra minutes to help provide crosses to Arsenal’s star strikers Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

As reported by the Mirror, when about those rumours in his pre-match press conference, Wenger responded: “He has a very professional attitude and overall I think that is what you want from every player.

“I am not surprised about that because I find that absolutely normal.”
