Arsene Wenger is aiming for a swift return to the Champions League via a Europa League triumph to help rescue Arsenal’s nightmare campaign.

The Gunners are 2-0 up against AC Milan at the half-way point of their last 16 clash. The two sides meet on Thursday night at the Emirates in which Gooners will be expecting their club to book their place in the quarter-finals.

“I want to being the Champions League.

“The Europa League is very strong this year. Look at Milan, Dortmund and Atleti. Many good teams.

“This competition is at a higher level than ever.

“Anything can run against you we just have to produce a performance that is expected from us.”

The 2-0 lead has put Arsenal with one foot in the next round, but Aaron Ramsey has urged his teammates to avoid complacency on Thursday night.

Arsenal won 2-0 at the San Siro last week

“We can’t take our foot on the gas we are going to treat it like a 0-0.”

Arsenal have lost seven times since the turn of the year and the pressure on Wenger to leave his post at the end of the season continues to mount.

Ramsey added that the victory in Milan has helped to boost confidence in the dressing room.

“We needed the result out in Milan.

“It had been a tough run, we try in every game.

“Hopefully we can build on it and go from strength to strength.”
