Arsenal will be without both Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for their Europa League clash with Ostersunds.

Lacazette underwent minor surgery on his knee on Tuesday. The Frenchman is likely to be sidelined for six weeks.

Meanwhile, Aubameyang is ineligible for Arsene Wenger’s side having already appeared in the Europa League competition for Borussia Dortmund.

It’s left Danny Welbeck as Arsenal’s only recognised striker. The Englishman has endured an inconsistent season so far, but is likely to be handed an opportunity to the lead on Thursday night.

And Wenger is happy for the ace to lead the line in Sweden.

“It’s where I prefer him. It’s an opportunity for him to do well.

“I have seen today he is sharper than a long time.”

Welbeck has found the net 13 times in 69 Premier League games since completing a £15m switch from Manchester United in 2014.

Whether Arsene Wenger will field a strong to remains to be seen. But Welbeck could very well be be accompanied by Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan at the top end of the pitch.

The 27 year-old will be desperate to make an impact and force his way back into contention as a regular.
