Manager Arsène Wenger says that it’s too early to assess the top four clubs in the league based on the first few games of the season. Arsenal and Chelsea have maintained a perfect start to the season but Liverpool and Manchester United have suffered early season losses.

Liverpool have lost two out of three games this season and their championship hopes are fast fading away, with the Scousers still having to play the other big three clubs.

Manchester United shockingly lost to Burnley and face Arsenal this weekend at Old Trafford, and the Gunners will be hoping to capitalise on the uncertainty surrounding the champions but will have to be equally aware that this is probably when they are at their most dangerous.

Wenger said: "Let’s not speculate that after two games the other teams are weaker. I believe that what is very important [is] let us focus to be stronger. The biggest room in the world is the room to improve.

"Two years ago in the Premier League we made 83 points and didn’t win the title. Last year Liverpool made 86 points and didn’t win the title.

“So let’s not speculate on any weakness of any other team, but just look how high that level is and that it means we need really to be super-consistent.

“I’m happy to play Man United now because it is the first big, big test. You want to have a high level of confidence when you go to Old Trafford and we have that at the moment.

“For us it is most important to recover physically because Man United didn’t play [in the week].”

There is a concern over the fitness of Francesc Fabregas as the captain struggles to be fit for what is being billed as the biggest match of the season yet. Midfielder Aaron Ramsey picked up an injury against Celtic and is another doubt for the match.

However, forwards Robin van Persie and Andrey Arshavin were rested against Celtic on Wednesday and will be available to face the champions.
