Arsene Wenger has admitted that both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez could leave the club in January.
The duo who are out of contract with Arsenal at the end of the season are not expected to sign new deals.
Sanchez saw a deadline daty move to Manchester City fall through, meanwhile Ozil is courting interest from Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United.
Arsenal will recoup nothing from either player if they allow them to leave at the end of the season and it would make business sense to cash in whilst they still can. And Wenger has revealed it could happen in the January transfer window.
“It’s possible,” said the Gunners boss (via Sky Sports).
Earlier this week Ozil’s agent Dr Erkut Sogut said his client intends to stay in the Premier League for two-three more years, which has given Arsenal fans hope the German will sign a new deal.
Sogut said talks with Arsenal are “positive” and Wenger is still keen on securing a new deal for his playmaker.
“I have always said that the fact we didn’t find an agreement last year doesn’t mean the player will necessarily leave,” said the Frenchman.
“Both players looked happy here and overall I hope the situation can be turned around.
“At the moment we are not close enough to announce anything.”
