What does Kai Havertz bring to Arsenal?

Kai Havertz has officially signed for Arsenal, signifying the club’s intent on pushing for the title once again next season. 

Mikel Arteta has moved quickly to ensure his side are in a stronger position to the one they finished the season in, with Kai Havertz being brought in.

There are moves for Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber on the cards, potentially taking their summer outlay up to £200m.

With Havertz, they’ve added a player into an area they have plenty of depth in. With Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli all having productive campaigns last year, Havertz will be an interesting addition to the final third.

What will Kai Havertz bring to Mikel Arteta’s tactical setup?

While Havertz isn’t prolific, he has obvious qualities that will certainly get the best out of the impressive wide players within the team.

Firstly though, it’s clear Havertz is a big game player and adding that aspect to the Arsenal team will be pivotal. Having scored the winner in the 2021 Champions League final for Chelsea as well as the winning goal in the Club World Cup in 2022.

Being able to play as a number ten, a false nine and number eight in the midfield will give Arteta flexibility. As a false nine, by occupying deeper central positions, it will allow the likes of Jesus, Saka and Martinelli to find space in behind while centre backs are occupied.

Arsenal’s attack is built on dynamic movement and with those players buzzing around Havertz, it should ensure goals and creativity will flow for the German international.

Not only that, but from a pressing point of view, Havertz will add more energy and aggression from the front.

His unselfish attitude to defending from the front will allow Arsenal to reset quickly and regain possession in dangerous areas, turning play in their favour.
