With many now feeling like the writing is on the wall for Unai Emery in terms of his future at Arsenal, exactly what has gone wrong for the Spaniard, who arrived in North London with hopes of leading the club to glory following the departure of Arsene Wenger.

Three Premier League matches without a win have left the Gunners six points behind fourth position, with a trip to an in-form Leicester City side unlikely to inspire confidence in the ranks. Many have pointed to Arsenal’s lack of identity when it comes to their problems, with Emery having changed his starting XI numerous times this season already. Despite Emery having been in charge for over 18 months now, the lack of any clear playing style is a worry, while their reliance on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is also of concern.

Emery’s struggles with the English language, whilst not being as important as other areas, are perhaps a good indicator as to his overall problems at the club. The Spaniard has just announced Aubameyang as his new captain, with Granit Xhaka having been stripped of the armband following his reaction to fans during the Gunners’ 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace in October. Meanwhile, issues with Mesut Ozil have only further raised questions surrounding Emery’s man management, with the German having found himself out of the equation for the majority of the campaign to date.

The former Sevilla and PSG boss is now among the favourites to be the next Premier League manager to lose his job, so if you would like to place a bet at these websites, be sure to do so sooner rather than later, with remaining fixtures in 2019 likely to have a significant impact on his future. The Gunners have had the youngest average age in the Premier League this season, a factor in which Emery has been quick to make clear, however this is unlikely to wash with Arsenal fans, who have seen the club spend over £100 million over the summer.

Allegri and Arteta are two names being linked with the position in the event of Emery being sacked, with the latter being the favourite. The former Arsenal midfielder is ready for his first managerial position, having acted as No.2 to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City over recent years. Meanwhile, former Chelsea and Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has been strongly linked with Arsenal over recent weeks, despite club officials having denied that meetings have already taken place between the two parties.

Those at the club have reportedly raised concerns over Emery’s obsession regarding stopping opponents, instead of focusing on their own strengths, with hours being spent on analysis. As a result, players are believed to find training sessions boring and often pointless, which could be the final nail in the coffin for Emery, with player power being greater now than ever before.
