Newcastle are the new financial force in the Premier League with other clubs scrambling to have new sponsorship regulations imposed so that the club’s owners cannot pour their entire fortune into making the North East club one of the most powerful in world football.
However, as was seen with Man City, people with that much money usually find a way to circumnavigate the rules and everyone expects that, come the end of the season, the club will go on a major spending spree.
It won’t be Steve Bruce spending that dough, because the hometown boy was sent packing in one of the more brutal sackings of recent seasons – a sign of how the club may be run from here on out. In the meantime, speculation mounts over which players the Toon will poach from rival teams as they go about building a squad capable of delivering Champions League football. Here we take a look at those players in the Arsenal squad who could be tempted north to the banks of the Tyne.
Alexandre Lacazette
For one reason or another Alexandre Lacazette is not in the good books of Mikel Arteta with him only having just begun to feature in the starting line up in recent weeks. Always likely to weigh in with goals if he is given adequate game time, Lacazette is usually a favourite with sports bettors, who are always on the lookout for a sure bet to use their sports free bets on. The 30-year-old has struck up quite a relationship with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but both men could be looking for an exit from the Emirates at the end of the season, and Lacazette is the most likely to be tempted north. Certainly a whole lot more free bets found on comparison sites will be lumped on Newcastle to win things if Lacazette joins their new project up on Tyneside, while Arsenals odds would take a serious hit.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Everyone knows just how money can take Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s eye off the ball, as was proven when he went AWOL after signing his new Arsenal contract. With years left to run on that same lucrative deal it would seem unlikely that Aubameyang will leave the capital, but then it depends what sort of silly money Newcastle would be willing to dangle in front of him. That said, some Arsenal fans would be glad to see him go, as he has hardly lived up to his hefty price tag.
Emile Smith Rowe
In order to build a proper footballing dynasty, you must have some young local talent that can provide the base of the team that will endure for years to come. In that regard Emile Smith Rowe is one of the hottest prospects in the league, so it makes sense that Newcastle will be putting out feelers regarding his availability. Being a southern boy through and through it would have to be a genuinely bumper deal to lure Smith Rowe away from North London, but never say never in this topsy turvy new age of football.
Bukayo Saka
He is the golden boy of not only the Arsenal side but the England international setup as well and every club in the league and around Europe will be on high alert at the end of the season to see if his agent feels like it is time to cash in on his popularity. Saka seems like a loyal lad, and it is unlikely that he will be torn from the club that has shown such faith in his abilities, but money always talks in football and with careers only lasting for a few years, fans should never be surprised when a player chooses to cash in.
