Arsenal have had a busy summer as they’ve spent big to vastly improve their squad ahead of the 23/24 season.
With domestic title challenge and European football to contend with, a better-rounded squad with additional quality has been imperative for Mikel Arteta.
Having fallen away in the title race last season, the signings this summer have suggested it’s not a factor Arteta will want to come across again.
With a number of fringe players leaving the club, a several stellar signings in the way of Kai Havertz, Declan Rice, and Jurrien Timber arriving through the door for big money, head coach Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal has been loaded with a deadly arsenal.
Here, we take a look at how those players have performed so far.
Declan Rice
The marquee signing of the summer has shown his quality in the games he’s played so far for the Gunners.
He boasts the highest average rating according to Sofascore out of the summer signings and the stats back it up too.
His passing has been tidy, completing 93% so far per game. when broken down, you can see his quality in switching play is coming to fruition as well with 60% of his long balls completing per game.
He averages 5.7 ball recoveries and 3.1 tackles per game which highlights his ball-winning capability in the midfield.
He’s added a tidy robustness into the Arsenal midfield which has been a desperate need in recent years.
Kai Havertz
The surprise singing of the summer arrived from Chelsea for a reported fee of £60m.
To be blunt, he’s yet to get going in an Arsenal shirt and so far been a source of frustration for the Gunners.
He has started every game and is yet to get on the scoresheet, or even register an assist.
Even his chance creation stats are low, averaging just 1.7 chances created per game. Arteta will need more from the Germany international and if he doesn’t improve in the short term, he will lose his place in the starting XI.
Any other signings?
Both Jurrien Timber and David Raya will be hard to assess partly down to the lack of minutes
Timber was unlucky to suffer a knee injury in his first start for the club while Raya has so far played back-up to Aaron Ramsdale.
