After coming from behind to claim a narrow win, Ben White admitted it was a tough game, physically and mentally for Arsenal against Fulham.

THE LOWDOWN: DIFFICULT THREE POINTS

For the first time this season, Arsenal had to struggle to claim all three points and it was quite the test of character against Fulham.

After dictating most of the game, the Gunners found themselves behind in the second half after Gabriel Magalhaes was caught in possession on the edge of his own box by Mitrovic. The Serbian made the most of the ‘gift’ given to him and slot home a fine finish to put the visitors ahead.

However, Martin Odegaard levelled matters before Gabriel then atoned for his earlier blunder by netting to keep Arsenal’s winning run going.

Last season, the Gunners particularly struggled in games where they conceded first but there was none of that against Fulham. Arsenal now remain top of the table and the only side with a 100% record after four games.

THE LATEST: WHITE GIVES HIS VERDICT

Far from what was expected, Ben White has admitted it was a tough encounter against Fulham and was thrilled to see his side fight back to claim an important victory.

“It’s obviously always nice to get the three points here,” White said. “They made it tough for us and we made it tough for ourselves with the goal, but you know, the reaction from the boys was outstanding.

“With Fulham, you always have a physical game. You know, they’ve got a big boy up top and he’s hard to handle, but the boys did well today. “

White also took time to praise teammate Gabriel Magalhaes, who atoned for his error to win the game for his team.

Speaking about the atmosphere around the club right now, he added: “It’s outstanding. Gabi had a little hiccup and the reaction that he gave was outstanding and helped us get the win, really. I think the attitude and the desire we all have every day in training is showing on the pitch now.”

THE VERDICT: MORE THAN JUST THE POINTS

Many might say it was only Fulham but the manner in which Arsenal claimed the win was rather praise-worthy and even Mikel Arteta described the victory as more enjoyable than the three points against Bournemouth.

That show of character would have given the players much confidence as they approach a tough run of games, which many believe would test whether or not the Gunners’ ambitions this season are indeed genuine.
