Alexis Sanchez’s winning penalty in the Copa America final over Argentina warmed the hearts of gooners everywhere. Such confidence and poise he had stepping up to the spot, like a man on a mission. The audacity and courage it took to attempt a cheeky panenka in the final of all time.

Audacious and courageous he was, as he was sensational the whole tournament not just the final, and hopefully he will channel that over into the Premier League with Arsenal. Having a player returning from international success usually bodes well for a club.

Although that wasn’t the case with our German World Cup winners, Alexis’ passion and enthusiasm perhaps separates him. Chile success or not, he is a born leader.

He was made to lead this team. His work-rate and endeavour is infectious, as both his Arsenal and international teammates will attest to. Absolutely works his socks off and puts in a real shift for the side week and week out, and his teammates respond to that.

He lead by example in only his first season with the team last season, demanding the ball and driving forward at every chance. His intensity in turn brings the best out of his colleagues, as they have no choice but to respond accordingly.

Alexis lead the team in scoring and was second only to Santi Cazorla in assists, so he is already among leaders as far as stats are concerned. He now needs to continue to lead the side spiritually, as Arsenal is on the brink of greatness. His winning pedigree and experience will be crucial now to the lads, and we are sure he is the man to lead us to the promise land.
