Jack Wilshere must pick his tackles more wisely if he wants to remain free from injury.

That’s the view of former Arsenal defender Sol Campbell who says the midfielder can be too naive when attempting when going into challenges.

The Gunners midfielder appears to have shaken off his injury woes this season and feature 17 times in the Premier League so far.

However, Campbell has urged the England international to be more careful when attempting to win the ball.

As reported by the Star, the ex-Gunner said: “I think Jack is a wonderful player.”

“The only thing that has held him back is injuries. It’s such a shame as he has great tenacity.

“He’s got great footwork, and speed, and knowledge. He’s just got to look after himself a bit more.

“You can’t win every single tackle. Just win the right tackles and you’ll be okay.

Wilshere played in Thursday’s 3-1 Europa League win against AC Milan

“Sometimes he allows players to get too close to him with their studs.

“He needs to ride it a bit, jump over and get the free-kick instead of being too brave in the wrong areas.

“There’s a time to be brave and a time not to be brave, he’s working that out now.

“I do think he’s a wonderful player. He’s got great drive and a great goal in him.

Wilshere was included in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the friendlies against the Netherlands and Italy in March.

The midfielder has not represented his country since England’s shock World Cup exit to Iceland in 2016.

He could return to Premier League action in two weeks’ time when Arsene Wenger’s side welcome struggling Stoke at the Emirates.
