The boy’s a bit special

Huddart has been with Arsenal since he was 15 and signed professional terms with the Gunners on his 17th birthday.

Upon signing for the red half of north London, Huddart revealed that former Arsenal No.1 Jens Lehmann was his hero when growing up:

“This has given me a massive boost especially as I got the chance to train with one of my all-time idols, Jens Lehmann.

“Jens is the goalkeeper that I most looked up to. He had a real presence, made the right decisions and had his own style of keeping. I had the honour of working twice a week with him last season and that really helped me.”

Career highlights so far

There is no greater honour for a footballer than representing your country. Therefore, the fact the 6 ft 3 in ‘keeper has represented England at U16 and U17 level will no doubt rank highly with the youngster.

Future Emirates regular

It’s always a hard one to call with goalkeepers and, at the moment, with Wojciech Szczesny and David Ospina, Arsenal look pretty set between the sticks. However, at just 17, Ryan has a few years of learning and growth to do, so come his early 20s he may well be knocking on that first-team door.

His most interesting tweet

I always like it when our Arsenal youngsters show a genuine love for the club and a sense of pride at being part of the Arsenal.

Ryan’s tweets and retweets mainly contain pro-Arsenal content – with the odd ‘cheeky trip to Westfields followed by a Nando’s’ of course.
