Since joining the Gunners in late 2009, for a fee of around £3million, he has been out on loan in Spain, playing for Murcia and Levante. This season he has been at Almeria, again in Spain.

Silva, who can play as a forward and a winger, has recently received a timely boost as he finally got his work permit meaning he is now eligible to play for Arsenal. This boost should help his chances of making it in north London.

Back in December 2008 he was invited to have a trial in north London and, after the trial he returned back to Brazil, and continued playing for Fluminense’s youth team. Around a year later he signed for Arsenal, but the deal was delayed until 2011 due to his age. Work visa issues stopped him playing competitively for Arsenal, so this is why he was sent out on loan.

In the 2013-14 season, he played 39 times for Murcia scoring three goals. That has been his best season of his career so far. This season whilst playing for Almeria he has made 18 appearances, but yet to score a goal.

With Silva only being 22-years-of-age he still has time to have a future at Arsenal. It remains to be seen whether he will get the chance in Arsenal’s first team, due to the high calibre of players the club has in his positions, however,  Wenger does tend to give more of a chance to younger players.
