Rumours of a potential Arsenal swoop for Lyon and France ace Alexandre Lacazette have picked up steam once more, with speculation surrounding the future of the player. The player’s future at Lyon has been in doubt after largely impressive displays drew interest from Europe’s elite.

He bagged an impressive 31 goal last season, helping the team to a second place finish and return to Champions League football. While his agent has suggested that the player will most likely stay with the club so long as he is granted his wage demands, that hasn’t stopped the rumours and certainly won’t stop the inevitable bids from interested suitors.

Arsenal are said to be leading the pack of potential suitors with several sources intimating that the club have been given the “green light” to bid on the player, and the Frenchman would surely be a hit at the Emirates.

Lacazette is a brilliant centre forward, capable of turning the match on its head. He showed his finishing ability and tactical awareness this season, clinically poaching and dispatching every thing that comes near him. He is the ultimate fox in the box, and with his pace and movement he always manages to find the space and time to pick out his finish.

In this Arsenal side, he would slot right in and bag 20-25 goals a season easily. He would simply be required to apply the finishing touches, and with the likes of Ozil and Sanchez and Cazorla providing service, he would be in striker heaven.

Lacazette is a different option to Giroud, as he loves to run about and pull defences apart with his movement. He will look to combine to create space in behind to run into with his pace, as opposed to playing with his back to goal and holding players off.

If need be he can play alongside Giroud in a two forward set up, just as they do occasionally for France, with the combination of Giroud’s strength and size with Lacazette’s pace and agility a real nightmare for defenders.

He can also operate on the wing with his pace and trickery, so he would add another option to the squad. It is yet to be determined how firm Arsenal’s interest in the player really is, but let’s hope he is in fact in Wenger’s sights.
