It’s fair to say Danny Welbeck didn’t set the world alight in his first season for Arsenal in the same way Alexis Sanchez did. His best moment came when he scored the winning goal for the Gunners away to his old club Manchester United in the FA Cup Quarter finals.

Some fans would say that one moment alone was worth the 16 million pound transfer fee in itself. Another highlight for the Englishman was bagging a hat-trick in the Champions League qualifying round against Turkish side Galatasaray.

Arsenal fans were hoping for a lot more goals from Welbeck after his fine display against Galatasaray. He ended the season with 8 goals in 34 games in all competitions. However, he often found himself playing out wide with Oliver Giroud preferred up front.

Danny Welbeck has shown he can finish chances with calmness and composure but it hasn’t been seen frequently enough. Arsene Wenger should look to work on his movement in training inside and outside the box. This will hopefully increase the regularity of Welbeck finding goal scoring positions in games.

The question is where will Danny Welbeck fit in this season once he is fit for first team football. He isn’t quite the goalscorer the Arsenal fans are crying out for but he does have attributes which add something different to the team.

His high energy and ability to win the ball high up the pitch help to start dangerous attacks. He also provides brilliant cover if Arsenal are under pressure late on in games. Furthermore, his raw pace is enough to give any defender nightmares.

I see Welbeck being used predominantly in the big games, especially away from home. His pace on the wings and ability to win the ball high up the pitch could be the difference between a hard fought victory/draw or a narrow loss. Danny Welbeck definitely has a place in the Arsenal squad and Arsenal fans will hope he can replicate moments such as the winning goal vs Manchester United.

that’s what DANNY NEEDS A TOUCH OF COACHING.

I honestly think if Danny gets a chance he can be a special player for us. He may not be a first team regular, but he is a good player to have in the squad.
