Arsenal 5-2 Tottenham Hotspur – November 2012

There was a point where us Gooners were expecting the 5-2 scoreline to become a regular thing.

By 18 minutes, our bitter rivals had taken the lead through former Gunner – and resident villain – Emmanuel Adebayor. However, the Togo forward worked his way back into Arsenal fans’ good books when he was sent off for a reckless challenge not long after scoring.

Arsene Wenger’s men, as you’d expect, made the man advantage count with Per Mertesacker getting the ball rolling, before Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud struck before half-time.

Santi Cazorla then added a fourth in the second-half before Gareth Bale pulled a mere consolation back for the inferior north London side before Theo Walcott put the cherry on the cake with a late fifth.

Tottenham 2-2 Arsenal – April 2004

What’s a draw doing in a top five list on an Arsenal fan-site? I hear you cry. Don’t worry, though, I haven’t lowered my expectations in thinking a point is a good result against Spurs. No, this point gave us the chance to celebrate winning the league at White Hart Lane for a second time. Total humiliation for Spurs.

Tottenham 4-5 Arsenal – November 2004

North London remained red in a wonderful spectacle for the neutral with no fewer than nine goals and nine different goalscorers.

Noureddine Naybet gave Tottenham the lead but, naturally, Thierry Henry levelled on the stroke of half-time. Next on the scoresheet was a surprising one, with Cameroon right-back Lauren slotting home from the penalty spot on 53 minutes.

When Patrick Vieira put Arsenal 3-1 ahead just seven minutes later, the majority would’ve expected Arsene Wenger’s side to run riot. However, Spurs pulled one back through Jermain Defoe but it didn’t last long with Freddie Ljungberg quickly restoring Arsenal’s two-goal advantage.

In fairness to Spurs, they dug deep and Ledly King made it 4-3 but Robert Pires then got in on the action before Freddie Kanoute fired in to ensure Arsenal had a nervy few minutes defending their 5-4 lead.

Arsenal 4-4 Tottenham Hotspur – October 2008

We all know what happened! Sometimes, just sometimes, I wish I could be a neutral in these games, they must be so entertaining.

Arsenal 5-2 Tottenham Hotspur – February 2012

This victory was pretty sweet as Tottenham were coming to the Emirates having bagged their first away win against us for almost twenty-years; they had an unjustifiable arrogance about them.

The smug grin was quickly wiped off the faces of anyone and anything related to Spurs when Bacary Sagna, Robin van Persie, Tomas Rosicky and a Theo Walcott brace saw Arsenal ease to a 5-2 victory – we shall ignore the part were Louis Saha and Emmanuel Adebayor put the Lilywhites 2-0 up!
