With every big club comes intense competition for places and talented youngsters sniffing around the first team picture. Some of these youngsters will eventually brake into the side (usually after a loan or two) and make a career at the club, while others will be shipped out.
Arsenal is no different, as is evident by the numerous players out on loan at the moment. Naturally, some will be deemed surplus to requirements while others will get another crack at the first team. There are two in particular that will most directly come in direct competition.
Chuba Akpom and Yaya Sanogo will have to fight it out for the position of third choice centre forward behind Giroud and Welbeck, and will have much to prove over the summer.
With the squad list already too long as it stands, and Arsenal in need of offloading to meet the homegrown player requirements, surely there won’t be room for both. But who should stay? For me it is Akpom. Not only is he a homegrown player, he is by far the more polished product and an overall better player.
The young Englishman looks a real player. He is sharp on the ball and intelligent in his movement and runs. His goal scoring tally for the reserves and youth setups shows he is a good finisher as well and he was dangerous in his short cameos.
Sanogo on the other hand has failed to impress really. To be fair, he has a fantastic past goal scoring record as well with Auxerre and France U-21’s, but he hasn’t looked like repeating this form for Arsenal.
What is worrying for Yaya is the fact that he has played much more first team football than Akpom and yet he isn’t the clear choice between the two. He struggles really with his first touch and finishing ability, and simply must improve the quality of his play.
Both are away on loan, but will return in the summer to fight for their places. At the very least, Sanogo will go on loan yet again while Akpom stays and provides cover. What do you think gooners? Sanogo or Akpom?

Akpom is way more agile and intelligent and very confident too not shy of taking on defenders one on one. Just need a lil more game time. But I pray arsene dont make same mistake he made with vela and bendthner.
