Arsene Wenger already knew about Christopher Wreh prior to his move to Arsenal in the summer of 1997. He had played under Wenger whilst he was at Ligue 1 side Monaco. In his Monaco days he struggled to get into the first team, and somewhat due to this was sent out on loan to Guingamp. However, this forward had caught the eye whilst on international duty with Liberia. His performances for Liberia were enough to tempt his former boss to sign him in 1997.

When he joined the Gunners he had the likes of Dennis Bergkamp and Nicolas Anelka ahead of him in the starting Xl. Despite this intense competition in the forward positions he became a fans favourite at Highbury. He managed to score five goals in 46 appearances. The subsequent arrivals of Thierry Henry and Davor Suker meant his opportunities were even more limited.

In his debut season with Arsenal he was part of the Double-winning team who triumphed in the Premier League and FA Cup. This success was not replicated in the rest of his career as he moved from club to club. Since he left north London in 2000, he played for various clubs that included Bournemouth, St Mirren and Al-Hilal.

This footballer retired in 2010, with his last club being Perseman Manokwari. His cult hero status at Arsenal, and the successes he achieved there ended up being the highlights of his career. His performances for Arsenal were not repeated in his appearances for the other clubs.
