Arsenal have reportedly decided to send teenage winger Marquinhos out on loan in January.

THE LOWDOWN: EARLY IMPRESSION

Nearly nothing was known about him prior to his debut under Mikel Arteta. Marquinhos, who has been with the youth team, was handed a chance to play for the first team in the Europa League opener against Zurich FC.

The Brazilian did not waste time before impressing the manager and the fans, as he helped his side claim an opening day win in the Europa League.

That singular performance won the hearts of many and given the problems the Gunners have on the wings at the time, he was even labelled a possible solution. However, Arsenal want to send him on loan in January and it appears that a decision is set to be made.

THE LATEST: LOAN MOVE

Arsenal could send winger Marquinhos out on loan in January to give the Brazilian some game time, according to a report.

The 19-year-old has made just four appearances, scoring once, since joining for £3million from Sao Paulo in the summer and three of those appearances have come in the Europa League.

According to the Evening Standard, the Gunners might send the Sao Paulo-born forward to another club in January to get first-team experience,

Arteta may have to make a decision on whether to keep Marquinhos ahead of possible game time in January or let him go out on loan.

THE VERDICT: A DECISION HAS TO BE MADE

Arsenal can’t afford to send Marquinhos out on loan when it is not certain that a new winger is coming in.

The January fixture list is quite hectic with games in the League Cup, FA Cup and Premier League expected to hold. Given he is one of the few left-footed wingers Arsenal have at the club, sending him out on loan might not be the right move. However, if he decides to stay, game time is not guaranteed for him as well.

In the long term, Marquinhos might develop more if he’s playing week in, week out somewhere else rather than sitting on the bench and waiting for chances that will come from squad rotation at Arsenal.
