Gabriel Martinelli is set to become one of Arsenal’s top earners, following his reported contract extension.
THE LOWDOWN: GROWING INFLUENCE
Martinelli has grown massively to become one of Mikel Arteta’s most prized asset upfront. The Brazilian took a different route to the Premier League but he has been able to justify the fee Arsenal paid for him back in 2019.
The winger has been a key member of the Arsenal squad, which has seen them rise to the top of the Premier League and five points above Manchester City.
In his Arsenal career, Martinelli has scored 23 goals and 15 assists in 101 appearances and this season alone, he has been able to contribute five goals and two assists.
Talks over a new contract with the 21-year-old began in September, and he also confirmed he will be staying some weeks before the World Cup break. It now appears he will be one of the club’s top earners when he officially signs the new contract.

Arsenal are reportedly close to agreeing a new contract with Gabriel Martinelli that will see the Brazil international become one of the club’s top earners.
It is believed that those discussions are at an advanced stage with Arsenal increasingly hopeful that an agreement is close in the next few days.
According to the Daily Mail, Martinelli’s new terms will see his earnings shoot up in the region of £200,000-per-week from his current £70,000-per-week deal.
Martinelli is believed to be happy in London and has informed his representatives he wants to continue with the Gunners despite interests from other European clubs.
THE VERDICT: REWARD FOR EXCELLENCE
Martinelli has simply been rewarded for his performances under Mikel Arteta. He was with Brazil at the World Cup in Qatar and that must have delayed the official announcement of his extension.
Arsenal are expected to work on the deals of the other members of the squad as league football resumes following the World Cup break.
