Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah is looking forward to more nights in the Europa League after grabbing a goal in his fourth straight start in the competition against Bodo/Glimt on Thursday.

THE LOWDOWN: MR EUROPA LEAGUE

The 23-year-old loves the Europa League, that’s for sure… or at least that is what his goal record in the tournament says. The youngster has five goals in his last 10 appearances in the competition, including two in his last two.

Nketiah grabbed a goal in the 2-1 victory over FC Zurich last month and followed that up with an instinctive finish against Bodo/Glimt to help the Gunners maintain a 100% start to the competition after a 3-0 win on Thursday night.

A jampacked schedule over the next month means that games will come in thick and fast. With four more continental clashes coming up in that timeframe, the striker is looking forward to being afforded more opportunities as he aims to extend his impressive Europa League record.

THE LATEST: MORE TO GIVE

Reflecting on the result against Bodo, he said: “It’s good to get some minutes and good to get on the scoresheet. It just kind of came quick, so I was just alert. I knew KT was kinda shooting so I was just alive on my feet and obviously adjusted well to finish.

“Obviously, if I start the last four games, I’ve got more of a chance of scoring so it’s been nice to test myself against different European teams, and I’ve done well so far so hopefully I can continue that. I’ve got much more to give.”

Arsenal face Bodo once again in Norway next week and Nketiah feels that he and his team-mates will have to be at their best away from home to get another positive result.

He said of Thursday’s opponents: “I thought they were a really good side. They tried to play, they had a real strong way and kept playing even when they were down, so it was tough opposition. They made it really tough for us at times, but it was a good result for us.

“I think once again the atmosphere was amazing, and we’re really building that connection between us and the fans, so long it may it continue. Obviously, we can hopefully continue winning here.”

THE VERDICT: RIGHT ATTITUDE

It is good to see that Nketiah echoes similar thoughts to Mikel Arteta, with both in agreement that the forward can do better on the pitch.

If Arsenal are to progress and go all the way in the Europa League, the 23-year-old will surely have a huge role to play in that. He has matured over the years and is now coming of age at the right time, much to the benefit of him and his club.
