Arsenal loanee Charles Patino has been hailed for his sensational performance at the weekend by Blackpool teammate Jerry Yates.

THE LOWDOWN: ENJOYING LIFE WITH THE TANGERINES

Charles Patino has impressed in the Championship since moving to Blackpool in the summer. The lad would have loved to stay back at the Emirates but the chances of him getting enough playing time were slim. Now, he is really having the best of times and he was sensational at the weekend.

Charlie Patino had one of his best games at the weekend with a goal and assist to his name and ended up winning the Man of the Match award in the 4-2 derby win over Preston North End.

Jerry Yates, who scored off Patino’s assist, was full of praise for the young midfielder from Arsenal.

THE LATEST: SENSATIONAL

Blackpool center-forward Jerry Yates was full of praise for Charlie Patino following the Arsenal loanee’s goal and assist at the weekend.

“He’s sensational,” Yates said.

“He deserves all the credit. Hearing the fans singing his song for 90 minutes I bet is surreal, to be honest.

“He’s only young, but the way he has [taken] to the Championship is unbelievable. He’ll be a top, top player.”

THE VERDICT: COMING OF AGE

Patino is certainly having a nice time with the Tangerines. He is highly rated back at the Emirates and it is not surprising to see him churn out performances like this. Previously, it was his manager who was impressed with him, now it’s his teammate.

Meanwhile, Arsenal can’t afford to lose him because his contract is nearing expiration and there are no talks regarding an extension yet.

However, it is good for Patino to be playing matches every week. Saturday’s game made it his seventh consecutive league start, and he probably should have had more if not an injury he sustained earlier in the season.
