Youri Tielemans has been linked with a move away from Leicester City all summer, but it appears Arsenal have made a transfer decision over the subject matter.

THE LOWDOWN: AN EVER-PRESENT INTEREST

Youri Tielemans has been linked with a move away from the club numerous times, with the Belgian in the final year of his current contract. Arsenal have chased the Belgian midfielder all summer and at a point, it looked as if there was a breakthrough. However, no deal has been concluded and the Gunners are still battling for his signature three months later.

Tielemans and Leicester City had an unpleasant 2021/22 campaign but he was still a key man for the King Power outfit, scoring six goals in 26 Premier League starts and averaging 1.2 key passes per game.

Now, Arsenal have reportedly reached a decision on bringing the midfielder to the Emirates stadium.

THE LATEST: BOSMAN TRANSFER

Arsenal are prepared to wait until Youri Tielemans’ current contract expires to secure the Belgian on a free transfer.

According to Football London, the Gunners have an agreement with the player in place for some time and are confident of getting him for less than Leicester’s current asking price.

Arsenal feel the Foxes’ demands, which are in the region of £32million, are too high for a player with just one year remaining on his deal, and technical director Edu is in no rush to sign the player, although external factors could change the situation rapidly.

In addition, CBS Sports’ Ben Jacobs told footballtransfers.com that United had been joined by West Ham United, Newcastle United and other clubs abroad in monitoring the Tielemans situation. Any move from another party would be expected to change the current stance of the Gunners.

Youri Tielemans will travel to north London this weekend to face his potential future club. Arsenal take on Leicester City at 15:00 on Saturday.

Arsenal have been quite active in the transfer window this summer. A couple of additions have been made to the squad and the team is taking shape ahead of the new season.

The decision to wait till his contract expires is a nice one and hopefully the player will not back out of the agreement.
